The Best Way To Store Alkaline Batteries
Do not store the battery in a freezer or refrigerator. Some people think that keeping the battery in the refrigerator can extend the use time, but experts from the battery company say that low temperature can actually damage the battery.
Store the battery in a cool place, but not a cold place. Alkaline batteries should be stored at room temperature (about 21 degrees Celsius).
Pay attention to the humidity in the storage location. Storage in a proper environment can make the battery life longer, and a relative humidity of 50% is best.
Use a rag or a clean pencil to clean the cathode and anode of the battery.
Place the battery in a container. Do not put loose batteries in your wallet or pocket. Friction or contact with other metals can cause the battery to short circuit or even leak.
Keep the battery away from heat sources. Even when stored, the battery will quickly run out of electricity due to heat. For example, storage at 37 degrees Celsius will run off about 25% of the electricity every year.
